Hippie Jeans Bag and Belt

A bag of denim and embroidered cambric is decorated with large stones of artificial turquoise. Sew a belt from a denim fabric as a set for a bag!

Delicious and summer-style hippie-style aerial accessories. Even a turquoise resembling the sea in sunny weather, you can do it yourself!

Tip: for a different time of the year, you can take other fabrics. Turquoise will perfectly combine dense silk and navy denim, as well as hand-knitted fabric made of thick wool in combination with denim.

A bag

A beautiful combination of blue denim, embroidered batiste and faux turquoise. With a little patience - and you, thanks to the description of sewing a bag, will become its happy owner!
Bag Size: approx. 50 x 30 cm (without handle).

Attention: you can draw the pattern of the bag part yourself according to our drawing (size approx. 50 x 30 cm, including allowances).

You will need:

cambric with embroidery 140 cm wide: 0.50 m for bag details
the remainder of the cambric with embroidery size. 25 x 100 cm for the inside of the intermediate part and handle
denim residue 25 x 100 cm (or old jeans)
finished, folded in half oblique collar 2 cm wide, 1.50 m long
5 large blots internal diam. 1 cm
leather cord 60 cm long
about 55 artificial turquoise stones for sewing various shapes and sizes
40 rivets with a diameter of 1 cm
about 95 ironing rivets with a diameter of 3 to 5 mm

How to do

Make a pattern according to the pattern. Mark out allowances 1 cm wide.

Layout plan for paper patterns on fabric 140 cm wide. When cutting from a fabric folded in half, the front side is inside.

Cut

From the embroidered cambric: 4 parts of the bag with a fold.
From denim and the remains of a cambric: an intermediate part with a handle - from each fabric 2 strips 95 cm long and 9 cm wide.

Sewing

1. On one part of the bag, sweep with one another the wrong side to the wrong side, sweep along the upper edges along the seam allowances. Cut off allowances at the top edge. Fold the slanting collar to a width of 1 cm and iron. Lay the ribbon around the upper edges of the bag parts and sew on the front to the edge, grabbing the inside edge of the ribbon. Punch large blocks, as shown in the photo at the beginning of the article.
2. Stitch intermediate parts in denim and cambric on the narrow side (= bottom seam). Leave the narrow edges of the whole handle of the bag open.
Stitch an intermediate part with a one-piece denim handle along the side and bottom edges to the details of the bag, while the handle protrudes. Iron allowances on denim.
3. On the intermediate part of the embroidered cambric, iron the seam allowances on the narrow sides of the handle to the wrong side. Place this intermediate piece face-to-face on a denim piece, stitch the long edges of the handle. Turn the handle out. Iron the edges.Stitch the ends of the denim handles face-to-face without grabbing details from the embroidered batiste. Iron allowances and put under the parts of the cambric. Open narrow sides by hand stitching. Tuck the intermediate part from the embroidered cambric over the seams of the bag and sweep it, stitch it to the edge from the front.
4th Sew decorative stones to the handle of the bag, punch and iron rivets. Pull the ends of the leather cord from the inside of the bag out through the blocks.
5. To make 2 large "stones" of turquoise. Fix the stones in a vice and drill a hole according to the diameter of the cord. Polish the stones and thread them. Allow the polish to dry completely. Finished stones to string on a leather cord, tie the ends of the cord in a knot.

Jeans belt

What a miracle you can make from old jeans! This accessory perfectly complements a hippie outfit. Spectacular details: sewn artificial turquoise, metal blocks and rivets, as well as a twisted cord around the edges of the belt.

You will need:

old jeans or remnants of denim size. 85 x 30 cm
flizelin flizofiks
28 blocks with an inner diameter of 5 mm and 5 rivets with a diameter of 1.2 cm.
about 60 ironing rivets with a diameter of 3 to 5 mm
54 decorative sewn stones of various shapes and sizes
cord dia. 4 mm, length 15 m
2 leather cords 50 cm long
sewing threads

Belt detail (doubled)Length 40 cm, width 12.5 cm, allowances already included.
According to the sizes shown in the photo, make a belt pattern in the original size.

How to do:

1. Cut out 2 parts of the belt with a fold. Seam allowances are already included in the pattern.
Iron flizofiks on the wrong side of one part of the belt. Remove the paper pad layer. Put the second part of the belt on top and iron. Allow the parts to cool in a horizontal position on a flat surface. Punch at a distance of 2 cm from the upper and lower edges in the middle of the belt along the block. At intervals of 2.5 cm, punch 6 more blocks on both sides. Break the remaining 2 blocks in the middle of the narrow side.
2. Place the rivets on the belt, as shown in the photo, iron and punch. Sew decorative stones as shown in the photo.
3. Cut the cord into 2 identical parts. Tie a knot of 6 pieces at one end. Twist the threads of the cord, put on the upper and lower ends of the belt, tie at the ends of the belt with a knot. Sew the string on the edge of the belt.
4. Pull the leather cords through the blocks on the narrow sides of the belt.
