These fabrics at the same time are perfectly stretched and keep their shape perfectly due to the inclusion of elastic threads (elastane) along with natural and synthetic fibers.
It can be absolutely any fabric: silk, chiffon, wool, cotton, linen, including knitted fabrics, which we already talked about earlier.
Knitted fabrics with elastane fibers: properties and characteristics of the material
Fabrics with elastic threads can be stretched both in the transverse or in the longitudinal direction, and in both directions at the same time (bioelastic fabrics). Of course, bielastic fabrics stretching in both directions are most convenient to work with, as they can be cut in different directions.
If the fabric with elastane is stretched in only one direction, then the details must be cut so that they stretch across.
Depending on the quality, elastic fabrics can shrink during washing and ironing up to 5%, always consider this fact when calculating the required footage of the fabric before purchasing it.
Before cutting, be sure to iron the fabric with elastane with a humidifier iron or through a wet iron. Or wash the fabric if care rules permit it.
If it is necessary to duplicate small parts of a cut by a gasket, it is better to iron the gasket to a piece of cloth of the appropriate size first, and then transfer it to the contours of the part and cut it out.

How to sew from fabrics with elastane
For sewing from fabrics with elastic threads, special needles are used, knitting needles are also suitable. Stitch the product parts with a regular straight stitch. If it is necessary to preserve the elasticity of the seams, the details are sewn with a narrow zigzag stitch (0.5–1 mm stitch width, 3–4 mm stitch length) or a special elastic stitch, as if you were sewing a knitwear item on a sewing machine. Bending of the bottom is performed in the usual way, or hemmed manually. In addition, if the fabric with elastane stretches strongly, the hem can be sewn with a double needle of the sewing machine.

Check the thread tension in the sewing machine - it should not be too strong when sewing products from fabrics with elastane.

Care for stretch fabrics
Products made of elastic wool or silk are best cleaned. Mixed fabrics made of cotton, linen, viscose, copper-ammonia fibers, synthetic fibers and elastane can be washed, but very carefully and with mild detergents, as the fabric with elastane can cause repeated shrinkage. The temperature of the water depends on which fibers the elastane is mixed with. Elastic cotton fabrics are washed at a water temperature of 60 ° C, and in other cases, the water temperature should not exceed 30-40 ° C.
Ironing correctly means good sewing!
Stretch elastic fabrics with a lightly or moderately heated iron, having previously tried on an unnecessary flap.
