This secret pocket is hidden in plain sight - in the seam of the belt. Previously, watches with a chain were worn in such pockets, but today you can put, for example, a bank card in it.
An “hour” pocket can be made not only in trousers, but also in a skirt.
In order to make an “hour” pocket, it is necessary to prepare the front part of the skirt or trousers, as well as mark the place of the future pocket.
The selected pocket width in this master class is 9.5 cm. The pocket will be located on the right side of the front panel of the skirt, at a distance from the upper cut equal to the allowance (in this case 1 cm). A pocket entry line may cross a tuck.
Processing the inner pocket in outer clothing
In addition, you will like:
- lining fabric;
- disappearing marker for fabric or chalk;
- threads, tailor pins, scissors, ruler.
Step 1
Prepare a one-piece burlap pocket and clearance. The dimensions of the pocket in the finished form are 9.5 * 7 cm. The allowances at the burlap and the clearance are 1.5 cm on the sides and 1 cm on the bottom and top.
Step 2
Fold the gap and the burlap of the pocket with the front side to the front side, aligning the longitudinal sections. Chop off.
Step 3
Lay a stitch at a distance of 1 cm from the cut. Unscrew burlap for allowance and iron.
Step 4
Stitch pocket burlap into stock at a distance of 1–2 mm from the seam, stitch length 3–4 mm.
Step 5
Transfer the marking of the entrance to the pocket on the front side of the front panel of the skirt.
How to make a pocket with a trimmed barrel
Step 6
Place the burlap of the pocket on the front panel of the skirt with the front side to the front side, aligning the marked lines of entry into the pocket. Chop off.
Step 7
Lay the line strictly from the beginning to the end of the pocket entry without going into allowances.
Step 8
Make notches to the beginning and to the end of the line, not reaching them 1-2 mm.
Step 9
Unscrew the burlap of the pocket with a gap on the wrong side of the skirt panel. Iron.
Step 10
Stitch pocket burlap into stock at a distance of 1–2 mm from the seam, stitch length 3–4 mm.
Note: instead, you can sew a pocket along the front line of the entrance, grabbing an allowance, i.e., sew a decorative stitch.

Step 11
Unscrew the burlap of the pocket up, and then put a clearance on the burlap, aligning with the allowances so that the inside of the pocket is outside. Chop off.
Step 12
Stitch the sides of the pocket at a distance of 0.6-0.7 cm from the slices. Cut allowances close to the stitch.
Step 13
To turn out a pocket and to iron.
Step 14
Finish the French seam - lay the second line at a distance of 0.6-0.7 cm from the fold.
How to make a french seam
Step 15
From the front side of the front panel of the skirt, on the sides of the pocket, make short longitudinal fastenings with a length of about 1 cm along the line of the future seam of the belt-sewing. Iron pocket on all sides.
Step 16
Stitch the skirt belt in the usual way, carefully make sure that the line does not go into the line of entry into the pocket.
