Bootees, hats, blouses, sarafan, overalls on small children, bound by loving hands of mother or grandmother, cause complete emotion.
For a perfect result natural threads - cotton, linen, silk and wool. So that the woolen product does not prick and does not cause discomfort to the child, when choosing, it is worth giving preference to merino yarn. It is 100% wool, but very tender, soft, pleasant and completely scratchy.Children's knitwear requires delicate care using special detergents. Certainly best wash such things by hand. But progress does not stand still. Almost all modern household washing machines have a delicate or hand wash function. So, you can safely entrust the washing of children's knitted clothes to your assistant. The temperature regime should not be higher than 40 degrees. If things do not have strong pollution, then washing in cool water will be more suitable. Conventional laundry detergents will not work here, but children's laundry detergent Tide Kids perfectly cope with the task. The spin function in this case must be set to the smallest speed, and it is better to turn it off altogether. And after washing, just let the water drain.
Dried knitted baby clothes only unfolded to preserve their shape and appearance. After drying, it is enough to shake the thing and gently iron it from the wrong side (iron in the "wool", "silk" position).
Expert Opinion
The moderator of our site, an engineer-technologist of sewing production, a sewing teacher, Svetlana Khatskevich, gives our readers some more valuable recommendations on caring for knitted children's things:
Small knitted little things of the child - socks, booties, caps, mittens, it is better to machine wash in a special mesh bag and wring it by hand. Be sure to double rinse! Dry flattened.
But purely woolen things are better to wash by hand. Wool sits not so much from hot water as fromwater temperature differences when washing and rinsing. After all, rinsing water is supplied without heating. And you can get a thing of a much smaller size at the output. Therefore, even with a hand wash, water during washing and rinsing needs to be done at the same temperature.
Then squeeze, without unscrewing, you can in a towel, and spread out to dry, giving the little thing its original shape.
Do not dry purely woolen things on a hot battery, otherwise they can get hooked too!
Now very popular fishnet kits for kids fromacrylic fiber. They are light, bright, smart, easy to wash. But you need to remember that acrylic does not like heat. Therefore, you need to wash it at 30 degrees, and squeeze it at the minimum speed of the drum. Otherwise, creases can form on things. And since you need to iron acrylic things at the temperature of the iron in the "silk" or "wool" position and without steam, it will be difficult to get rid of these creases without damaging the thing.
