The heroine of this unusual shooting is Natalya Kornaukhova from Irkutsk, the winner of the competition for the best models of the autumn / winter season 2015/16, stitched according to the patterns of BURDA magazine.

There were no questions where to shoot with our new winner - of course, in the theater! After all, Natalia has long been fond of the theme of historical costume and dances at "court" balls. She sews the appropriate outfits with her own hands, and the skills acquired back in school years came in handy. Then Natasha first picked up the magazine Burda, which she fell in love with immediately and forever, and also participated in the first fashion shows organized by the head of the sewing circle at the Creative House Olga Nikolaevna Chekhman. She was the one who was waiting for the main victory in the Burda contest from the gifted student and cheering for her. Natalia takes her hobby very seriously: the costume must fully correspond to the era, right down to the buttons that our heroine gladly makes herself. Like corsets - without them it is impossible to imagine a beautiful lady from past times. To learn this complex art, Natalya had to go to a special school in St. Petersburg, but now her ball gowns are sitting perfectly.

Theater and Fashion

So, Natalia had long wanted to turn to the era of Art Nouveau, and shooting for the magazine Burda in the walls of the legendary Moscow Art Theater and the Moscow Art Theater was an amazing event for her. They are always there! The Moscow Art Theater Museum, where part of our shooting took place, contains unique documents and objects related to the history of the Moscow Art Theater. Museum staff said that one of the founders of the theater, Konstantin Sergeyevich Stanislavsky, was passionately interested in fashion. For the first performance "Tsar Fedor Ioannovich" in 1898, he used magnificent fabrics embroidered with gold and silver thread, produced at their family factory. And the talented actresses Olga Knipper and Maria Lilina made embroidery on costumes, which can now be seen in the museum. Since 1901, the great artist and fashion designer Nadezhda Lamanova collaborated with the theater. After the revolution, she was accepted into the theater staff and worked in it until the end of her life. The Moscow Art Theater owes her masterpieces of theatrical costume - for such famous performances as Othello, Crazy Day, or The Marriage of Figaro, Anna Karenina.
