A sophisticated classic with a touch of sexuality ... Fiona Chibani, Ports 1961 lead brand designer, combines Canadian ease with Italian style.

Fiona Chibani
The leading designer of PORTS 1961 took all the best from her parents, Italian father and mother of Turkish women, as well as from the magazine Burda, which she learned to sew.

Madame Chibani, your current collection is inspired by one of the most stunning actresses of past decades, Charlotte Rampling ...
Her incredible sensuality and elegance are timeless. Her photographs taken by Helmut Newton are mysterious and romantic. I transferred this mood to my collection.
Do you create clothes for strong women?
I imagine them - strong, gentle / I emphasize their confidence with feminine models with masculine details. I love the contrast of seriousness and sexuality.
You say that in different cultures, beauty is expressed in different ways. You have success around the world, is there an international fashion language?
You are absolutely right. Language separates people, but there are deeper and more fundamental ways of communication - utterance through form and color, expression of feelings through movements and gestures. Probably, the multicultural environment in which I developed helps me: my parents are from Turkey and Italy, I was born in North Africa, and grew up in Canada ...
In Canada, you also learned to sew.
I wanted to learn how to sew at all costs. As a fifth grader, I enrolled in courses, then began working with BURDA patterns. They were harder than everyone else, and, looking back, I understand that they helped me a lot in mastering tailor's art.
You manage Ports with your spouse. How easy or difficult is it to run a family business?
Not so long ago, my sister was also in business with us. The family is the foundation of human society. The love, support, strength that we draw in the family cannot be measured with any money ...
