Workplace: main

To begin with - about the main parameters important for the organization of the workplace. Its size and equipment, not least, will depend on how much time you devote to sewing and how professionally you do it.

If sewing, in fact, is your profession, if you sew a lot and often, almost every day, if you have several machines and a special cutting table, ideally, your workplace can occupy the whole room or a significant part of it.

If sewing is more of a hobby for you, or it is not possible to set aside a separate part of the apartment for the working corner, a compromise is possible. About the main parameters of the organization of the sewing corner and ideas that facilitate the work and storage - in our review.

First of all, for work you need a table, chair, lighting and a socket - in order to connect a sewing machine. The table is suitable and computer or convenient writing. Special chairs are produced for seamstresses in production: they look like a swivel office chair, but with a more straight and stiff seat and back, eliminating the possibility of sitting too impressively. Such a chair is optional, the main thing is that your seat be stable, fit in height and allow you to sit on it for a long time without fatigue.

A good table lamp with the ability to adjust its location and tilt is important for work. It is better to use fluorescent or LED lamps. Firstly, they do not heat up, and there is no way to get burned by accidentally touching the lamp. Secondly, unlike ordinary ones, such lamps do not distort the color of materials and threads (this is especially important if you embroider). Plus - their eyes get tired less.

To make the sewing machine stand firmly on the table, you can use a special mat. And you can sew such a substrate with your own hands: it is also convenient with pockets for small items. Bonus - a needle bar on a clothespin.
You will need:
- dense fabric of two types;
- metal hairpin for clothespins;
- glue;
- a little sintepon or other material for stuffing the needle bed;
- sewing machine, thread.
1. Determine the length and width of the future substrate. Open the fabric, considering that the detail of the pocket will be double. You will also need 4 parts for processing edges.

2. Fold the pocket detail in half inside out and stitch, backing off a little from the fold. Sew one of the short sides to the edge of the main part.

3. Fold the folds to form a voluminous pocket and sew.

4. The remaining three pockets will be flat. Mark the stitch lines and sew. Sew the entire pocket detail below.

10. Turn out the needle bar, fill it and sew up the hole. By the way, this needle bar can also be worn on the belt.

Thread Storage Stand

Photo: sugarbeecrafts.com

Such a stand can be hung on the wall or the cabinet door from the inside, put in the tray or drawer of the bedside table. Storing bobbins with thread on it is as convenient as bobbins. The main thing is to pick up the perforated panel of the right size. Often in the repair and construction stores where these are sold, you can help trim the panel to your size.
You will need:
- perforated panel;
- sticks or rods on which you will hang coils (suitable, for example, wooden sticks for barbecue);
- glue for wood;
- jigsaw;
- optional - paint and trim strips.
1. To begin, cut the sticks with a jigsaw into segments of the desired length - such that coils are placed on them. If you have larger coils or bobbins, make a few longer rods.

2. Lubricate the tip of each pin with glue and insert it into the hole. For extra strength, glue the mounting location of each pin on the back. Leave to dry.

3. In principle, the stand is already ready. If you want to decorate its edges with decorative strips, saw off the slats of the desired length at an angle of 45 degrees, paint with acrylic and dry. After - glue the strips along the edges of the stand.
