Famous designer Elena Teplitskaya offers a new look at the Burda dress-sundress.
Elena Teplitskaya: "The sundress goes not only to young ladies!"Elena Teplitskaya considers a sundress a universal wardrobe item for a woman of any age. It is convenient in that you can wear a T-shirt, blouse, shirt under it and, changing them, create a different mood. And having sewed it from wool or velveteen, you can get a winter version.
What is the peculiarity of our model, which became the hit of 1987?
Here are very curious straps resembling suspenders. When I started sewing, I became interested in what kind of fastenings are in clothes. My grandfather - he was a very elegant man who paid a lot of attention to details - put forward a drawer on his desk and said: "Take what you want." There were such objects in it. Not all fashion designers can boast the ability to sew.Sketch of Elena Teplitskaya
How did you start this hobby?
I began to seriously sew, having received from abroad the magazine Burda in German. I studied it for a long time, I understood how to build patterns. It was hard to find anything worthwhile in the stores, but there were a lot of interesting things in the magazine. Then there was the courage to create their own variations, to use other fabrics. The corporate identity of Elena Teplitskaya is a combination of cheerful colors, bright details, unexpected contrasts.
What impact did Burda have on women in our country?
They became very brave, they wanted to be one of a kind - so that no one else had such outfits! Emphasis shifted: women ceased to be correct, less concerned that the brown stocking was combined with a brown boat, strap and more. Borders no longer existed, women began to boldly look into the wardrobe of men: wear men's shirts, redraw them, complement them with neckerchiefs. There was even such a joke: "Take the Burda and a dress from our husband’s tie."And where do today's craftswomen look for inspiration?
Feel free to use the things that your mother wore. A wonderful blouse can be made from an old dress; a coat or jacket can be made from a camel blanket. The embroidered napkin will become an element of decor. My advice - look in the chests!- Best-seller
