Choosing a model of a free cut, it is sometimes difficult to immediately determine what will result, a dress or a tunic? You decide.
In the original, the model is presented as a mini dress in the spirit of the 60s. In our case, a shortened version with the original decor of the planks along the edges of the front section.
The chief editor of Burda magazine Marianna Makarova and the editor of the website BurdaStyle.ru Julia Dekanova.
The cloth
For dress 124 from Burda 11/2013, shaped dressing fabrics are recommended. It can be medium density jacquard fabrics, textured, with a relief pattern. In our case, the tunic is made of jacquard with a beautiful print that resembles snowballs, and a spectacular color transition from gray to deep blue. A simple straight cut model emphasizes the beauty of the material that we found in the podium fabric store.
Model Features
The model is quite simple, and it will not take you much time and effort to execute. The only important point is the pattern on the fabric, which must be combined when cutting parts. Namely, in the side seams, as well as in the area of threading the sleeve into the armhole. Therefore, if you will sew this model from fabric with a similar pattern, take the pattern with you to the store, then you definitely will not be mistaken in the footage.
Shoot the pattern size to size, and make all adjustments during the fitting, they will be minimal. Slender, you can safely take a size smaller. Do not narrow the dress much, this will lead to a change in the free silhouette, which was originally conceived in this model.
Decor
The most interesting thing about our tunic is the cut in the upper part of the front, decorated with trims with curly folds. Performing them is very easy. You will learn how to do this from our workshop.
By the way, such curly folds have an original name - frog mouths. They often adorn national Bavarian dresses.
Expert Comments
First of all, Alexander Vasiliev focuses on the versatility of the model: someone will wear it like a tunic with trousers, and someone like a mini-dress.
The free model will emphasize the fragility of slender girls and hide the flaws of women with forms.
In such patterns, an important role is played by the breast tuck, since it is she who forms the beautiful feminine silhouette of the front of the bodice, despite the freedom of the cut of the product.
Alexander Vasiliev emphasizes the original decor of the tunic in the Japanese origami technique. Sometimes, even in the simplest dress, one spectacular detail is enough to completely change the image. For example, a typical technique was used by craftsmen in the 18th century, who adorned the edges of a swing skirt with similar decor.
This tunic was sewn by the editor of the website BurdaStyle.ru Julia Dekanova, as well as other products for the previous three projects
